You don't have to be a mind reader to know that the arrival of autumn doesn't please many people every year. Between the days getting shorter and the nights getting longer, leaving when it's still dark in the morning and coming home when it' s already dark in the evening... We all know what we're in for over the next few weeks. For all these reasons, autumn is for many synonymous with depression, greyness and bad weather. Autumn days lack light and are sprinkled with rain, forcing us to dig out the raincoat from the closet. But after all, there's a charm to it all, don't you think? 🍂
This month, Flotte's editorial team is on a mission to make you (re)love rain, thunder, wind, cold - in short, autumn! On the menu, a host of good reasons (and again, we had to make a selection...) to enjoy our short autumn months before the arrival of the great winter cold. 🥶
Number 1: the autumn color palette is by far the most beautiful 🍁
Take the time to look around you and you'll notice all that autumn has the pleasure of offering. The leaves on the trees turn yellow, then red, then fall... Going for a walk in the woods or simply passing under alleys of trees in full metamorphosis, that's the real way to enjoy the colors of autumn. From a simple stroll to a day's jog, the woods are the most cost-effective option for the season! If you're lucky enough to live near green (soon to be Rouge) spaces, make the most of it, and above all: share it with us! Tag us in your best photos, decked out in your favorite Flotte raincoats to enjoy the rainmakers' favorite season. 🌧
And pssst... For those with a sweet tooth, autumn walks in the forest are also an opportunity to go hunting for chestnuts and mushrooms... I'm just saying...

Number 2: bask in the warmth and watch the rain pour in through the window...
A must for any self-respecting rain-lover... And I'm sure you'll agree with us. Enjoying the good times in the warmth, taunting the rain outside, with a book in one hand and a hot chocolate in the other. A blanket on your lap and the TV on (with the Christmas movies coming soon!). Or for the bravest among us, computer in front of eyes and glasses on nose (telecommuting is cool for that too, plaid and pajamas - at least downstairs - but still working, thanks boss 🤗).
Number 3: autumn equals... must-have (and especially waterproof) looks!
Between you and me, what better season than this to prepare your best looks? It's the season that opens with fashion week, so it's viscerally dedicated to fashion! It's the time to go in search of the best color combos, practice layering galore, pull out your best waterproof jacket, and concoct your most beautiful mid-season outfits. It's also an opportunity to wear your favorite jackets, the ones you've been dreaming of wearing since last year, last fall. And if you're in the mood for something new, what better than a new rain jacket to go with it? At Flotte, the rainy season is our season of choice, so when it rains, that's the best advice we could give you! What's more, we've got a whole bunch of raincoats for you to choose from... See our raincoat selection right here!
Number 4: Night falls early, so make the most of it! 🌃
So we know, common opinion tends to hate autumn for this very reason: it gets dark EARLY. We feel like we're wasting our day, wasting precious time, and we just want to get home after work... True, but can we do anything about it? Not really, no. So we might as well make up for those few hours lost during the day by sleeping in! Here's a recommendation you'd do well to follow: make the most of that 7pm (or even 6pm) nightfall to wander the streets of the city center. The city takes on a whole new charm once the natural light is eclipsed. It's the turn of the artificial lights to take over, the department stores to light up, and soon, the Christmas lights to take hold ... 🌟
Number 5: before christmas, there's halloween! 🎃
What's that? Did you forget? Well, maybe it's a tradition that's better lived abroad (the English-speaking countries we're talking about...), but that's no reason to abandon it in France. When we were kids, it was a unique moment! Going out into the street, collecting sweets from strangers... Well, when you put it like that, it's less magical. But it's still a mystical holiday, with a very special atmosphere, and one that we enjoy taking part in. As responsible grown-ups, it's still possible to get through this mythical autumn festival and have a good time too! Here's a good idea: spend the evening of October 31 deep on the sofa with friends, a horror movie marathon on TV and bowls of popcorn and sweets on your lap. Halloween, but make it netflix and chill. 🍿
Number 6: sleepers beware, it's your time, plus one hour of sleep in October 💤
Octobrrre we rrreculate by one hour. The end of October isn't just about celebrating Halloween, it's also (and above all) about the annual time change. As much as we don't appreciate the one in March, we do appreciate the one in October... We gain an hour's sleep, and that's not to be sneezed at.

Number 7: it's time for the return of hot food
You don't have to wait until December 21 to start preparing winter dishes. Autumn means rain (of course), but it also means the arrival of cold weather, so the answer is hot food! From good soups blended at home to hot broth on the way home from work, and of course all the cheese-based dishes we love to eat with our families: tartiflettes, raclette... In short, you get the idea.
And if you're still not hungry after you've mentalized it in your mind, let us tell you about another rainy-day pleasure, this time sweet: pastry. Preparing your own cookies, pancakes and crepes to enjoy with your tea or hot chocolate is just like that sweet afternoon spent watching the rain, the perfect autumn afternoon. ☕️
Number 8: It's almost Christmas ... 🎄
It's almost the end of the year, and that means Santa Claus season is just around the corner. Earlier, we advised you to take advantage of the long evenings offered by autumn, so you can stroll under the beautiful Christmas decorations. From the famous department store windows to the city lights, the colorful autumn night strolls are well worth considering!
Now that we've given you 8 good reasons to love autumn, all you have to do is enjoy it! Get ready to (re)love autumn this year ...
